Many artists find themselves limited to one style or subgenre, or penned in by their hometown - Parker Jason is not one of those people. Born and raised in Dallas but heavily influenced by Toronto native Drake and with a high pitched fast flow like Compton’s Kendrick Lamar, as well as the creativity and uniqueness of Childish Gambino (Stone Mountain, Georgia), Jason has a universal appeal that anyone can rock with. This kind of variety in his music is what makes him so interesting. He has tracks like “Win”, with high intensity, high energy, and high caliber bars on top of synth/drumkit trap production and a sample from Allen Iverson’s infamous “Not a game” rant, with a delivery like Kdot or Westside Gunn, alongside tracks like ‘Casual Issues (Good God)’, a trippy expedition into his inner mind with heavily altered vocals and a wavy synth beat. Every Parker Jason track you hear will be different from the next, and that’s what makes him special. His influences ranging across the continent combined with his natural talent and drive to explore and experiment result in some of the most interesting tracks you’ll hear. In order to have complete creative freedom, Jason does everything from scratch by himself since 2019- all of the writing and production are done alone, typically on his phone.

With only two projects out, the ‘6342 - EP’ and the ‘4 Da Record - EP’, Jason has more room to grow and invent new ways to share his sound with the world. He gained interest in rap after hearing Drake’s ‘So Far Gone’ tape, and you can hear the influences in his first project. On ‘Need Me’, a track from his first EP, he utilizes both the sing-rap and rapid-fire crisp delivery found on any Drake project. In the two years since it dropped, Jason has begun to find his own sound and try to find his own sound. Personally, I actually prefer the earlier ‘6342’ project as a whole, but it’s great to see him diversifying and finding the sound that will carry him to the future. The production is definitely a step up - ‘4 Da Record’ is entirely produced by Jason himself, and does a better job of seamlessly fitting alongside his verses. The best beats blend with the vocals so well that it sounds like they were designed for each other, and by making them himself Jason can ensure that level of quality. With two EPs and many singles, his discography is only about and hour and a half long, but it is absolutely worth a listen. Jason is one of the most diverse artists we’ve ever seen - from slow vibe songs (‘The Feels (I Swear)’, ‘U Down ?’) to hard and intense tracks (‘24 Blessings’, ‘Win’), he has something for everyone. As he progresses in the game, Jason will only improve and get even more creative with his style.
