With global influences from his current home in Europe to his future in LA, LeJit has managed to craft a perfect sound that blurs the lines between a variety of styles and subgenres. Though he always takes a melodic approach to music, he never lets the lyrics lag behind and consistently delivers well written tracks - he separates himself from other singers and rappers who focus on shallow or empty content through his vulnerable and raw emotion. An example of this is how LeJit conveys the loss and loneliness after a confusing exit to a relationship on my personal favorite track, ‘I Need You’. Everyone’s experienced one of those separations, from either a friend or partner, where you’re left with mixed feelings and unsure of where you stand. LeJit perfectly conveys that feeling of still wanting the other person even though it isn’t working out and they aren’t feeling the same. Not only is his writing open and powerful, you can hear the pure feeling in his voice throughout the verses and hook. This ability to channel his energy and struggle into music is something that sets him apart and puts him into a higher tier of artist - to find success, you have to be able to turn your real life struggles into art, and that’s exactly what he does. Another standout track is ‘Know It’s Hard’, featuring Shiloh Dynasty, where raps over an emotional vocal sample and discusses the highs and lows of his recent life, finishing with an optimistic and upbeat verse and hook. He also makes less deep but catchier bangers like ‘Sway’, a track which LeJit has said is his personal least favorite due to its focus on sound and replayability over deep content, but I personally don’t mind because of how catchy and memorable it is. Another one of his more pop-oriented tracks, ‘Honesty’, invokes a tropical theme through steel drums on the production and a melodic singing style. His final single, ‘Better Without You’, combines the best of his talents to create a dark and raw atmosphere that captivates and draws you in. Similarly to ‘Sway’ and ‘Honesty’, he moves away from a pure rapping style and more into R&B territory, and he has a unique hard hitting emotional delivery that makes this track stand out slightly above the others in terms of artistic development. From a production standpoint, the slower pace combined with the lower pitched delivery and vocal effects delivers a track that has a uniquely charged energy, one that we won’t forget.
Throughout each of these 5 singles (the ones available on all platforms that make up his ‘official’ discography), LeJit demonstrates such a wide range of talent it’s impossible to put him into a box. When asked about how he’d describe his music, he said “I don’t even know my own style.” With production ranging from a chill summer vibe (‘Honesty’) to dark and raw (‘Better Without You’, ‘I Need You’) to punchy and light (‘Sway’), and finally to emotional and soulful (‘Know It’s Hard’) as well as potent rapping and singing ability, there isn’t much LeJit can’t do. There are only a few artists that have caught our attention like he has, and he’s been catching the world’s too. Recently he hit over 2 million streams on ‘Know It’s Hard’, and has people throughout the industry looking into his music.
A final aspect of LeJit that’s just as important as his sound is his personality - the man behind the music is just as important as the music itself, and you can tell through his music that he is a complex person. His light and dark sides both show, and you can start to see how his upbeat exterior also contains a lot of pain. This is what allows him to craft such powerful and diverse music, and it was easy to see through our conversations that he is a legitimately passionate artist who is in love with music and the artistic journey he’s been undertaking. LeJit has all of the makings of a future star, and we can’t wait to see it happen.
