Coming out of New Orleans with a young career on the rise, EP Rio is developing a unique style early into his career, with raw and emotional lyrics leading the way on his first few singles and debut project. Released in January 2021, “collection of lost thoughts and nightmares” is everything you would want out of an artists first project, with an excellent variety of styles, vibes and beats. On the shorter side with 4 songs, EP Rio explores various parts of his life and lyrically expresses how he feels towards the world. The listener is able to feel the pains, frustrations and stories that Rio tells vividly with a combination of excellent production, lyricism and Rio’s own delivery of the lines. On the track “FUQQITY FUXK FUCK”, Rio experiments with a dark, aggressive style that highlights the mix of styles that he was able to present with the 4 song debut. Another standout track from the project was “a old memory”, a slow and melodic song that explores Rio’s storytelling ability, and my favorite song that he has released so far. With a very strong beat, a flow unique to Rio and storytelling based lyricism, this track sees everything come together to illustrate his potential as an artist. With new songs being released frequently, Rio is looking to establish himself into the music scene as a dedicated and passionate artist who seeks to perform from the heart and speak his mind. Each drop shows his progression as an artist, bringing in new styles and getting better with each release. Honest and raw lyrics are hard to come by in todays music scene, so keep a look out for this young emerging talent out of NOLA.
