  • Well-written bars and wordplay

  • Memorable flow and energy throughout

  • Catchy and easy to listen to, but filled with high quality bars and wordplay

Weaknesses:

  • Very short run time

  • 2/9 tracks are skits, leaving more to be desired

Overview:

  • Bay Area rapper and singer Wyborn’s debut album

  • 9tracks, 26 minutes long

  • No features but a variety of samples, including George Carlin

  • Heavy jazz influences, no autotune but some vocal effects

Description:

This album was very impressive - the production and style of the album was unlike anything I’ve ever heard before, with samples from old music (especially jazz and pop-rock), which fit a variety of energies and vibes. This will absolutely be on my top 10 of 2020 underground projects list, and I can’t recommend it enough. Tracks like ‘Worthless’ are chill and reflective, while others lile ‘No Groupies’ are intense and high powered - there’s something for everyone here. Even the skits add humor and personality. George Carlin is sampled perfectly and the radio interview skits from Wyborn himself make the project even more interesting. Overall, this was the most unique and interesting album I’ve ever heard, period. If it was a few tracks longer and slightly more polished it would be a 10/10 without a doubt.
