If you tried to build the most well rounded rapper in the game, what would you want? Production in the style of ATL trap greats, lyricism and powerful messages like Kendrick Lamar, smooth and catchy flows like DaBaby, and a diverse range of styles like Thutmose? If that sounds like an ideal artist to you, Southside of Atlanta rapper Jay Activist is exactly what you’re looking for. He first caught our attention with the release of his ‘Activist Wrld’ album, but his breakout track was ‘T.T.M’, a late-2020 single. Both melodic and highly lyrical, it shows off the best qualities of Jay’s sound, and he keeps up a hard hitting fast paced flow throughout the verses mixed with a catchy and memorable chorus. Something we love about Jay is that even when he’s making bangers, there’s always an incredibly well written foundation. He never gives anything less than 100% from his pen, and this attention to detail helps set him apart from other artists. While many artists focus only on sound or style and skip having deep and personal lyrics, Jay’s writing is easily his best quality and is never forgotten. Recently, Jay released a pack of singles titled ‘Warm Nights’, and its easily our favorite project from him yet. Tracks like ‘Tension’ and ‘Murda She Wrote’ are among his catchiest, and ‘Location’ has the most unique flows we’ve seen from him yet. Jay Activist is releasing new music this summer and again in late 2021, so we have a lot to look forward to in his future - he’s been improving his sound with every new track, and we’re excited to see the next level of quality he’s bringing to the table.
