Whether he’s chronicling his personal journey to inner peace or explaining how he made thousands playing stocks and grinding, Ianthesage always has a smooth and natural charisma that gives his music a casual and slick appeal. He has the energy of someone who knows exactly what they’re doing and wants to take you along for the ride - tracks like ‘Hustle’ have a light and airy feel on the surface, but if you listen to his lyrics you can see his expert storytelling. Many of his tracks are personal stories that intertwine aspects of his life and his path to where he’s at now, covering everything from his financial successes by playing the wealthy corporations of Wall Street to his personal struggles and religion/spiritual views. On our favorite track by him, ‘WALLSTREETBETS’, he talks about his success with day trading and learning from other people who want to be independent and self successful - now that same group has been famous for taking over six billion dollars from wealthy corporations and helping everyday people earn money on the side through their GameStop stock run. Ianthesage has managed to work his way up from an everyday person to a successful rapper and entrepreneur, and it’s this energy that makes his music so appealing. His music shows that anyone can make it through hard work and time spent grinding. Not only will it inspire and open your mind up to new ideas, it also has a catchy and memorable sound. It’s very accessible and replayable, and Ianthesage’s laidback flow glides over every track’s melodic production. A common theme throughout the project is his self acceptance and understanding, and anyone who listens can take away knowledge of how to make this journey themselves. Though he says specifically he would never call himself enlightened on ‘I Am’, that’s the exact vibe you get from his music.
While most of Ianthesage’s tracks are chill and relaxed, he also has the ability to go harder and a little more intense, like he does on ‘WALLSTREETBETS’ and ‘2020 Freestyle’, which provide nice changes of pace in his discography. His first project, ‘The Levitating Man’, dropped in December of 2020, and it perfectly showcases his combination of spiritualism and relatability that make him and his music so likeable. If you’re looking for a new artist to add to your playlist, Ianthesage is next up!
