While many rappers today are limited to one style or subgenre of music, FRXQ has been able to cross between genres, pulling influences from xxxtentacion and Lil Peep. He combines an alt-rock style aggression and production on many tracks such as ‘FUCK THE EARTH!’, with blown out vocals and fast delivery. Another frequent style is a slower and more melodic sing-rap such as the track ‘Ghostly’, where he’s backed by a simple strings and drums beat - no matter what he’s doing, it comes off as both a masterpiece of basement/soundcloud alt rap and as a professional and expertly crafted sound designed to get stuck in your head and never leave. An underrated aspect of FRXQ’s game is his lyricism, because even though many choruses are repetitive and simple, his verses always have solid rhyme schemes and wordplay. He addresses issues ranging from the damage humans have done to our planet (“Fuck the Earth and all the ignorant inhabitants, the people are a virus” he raps on ‘FUCK THE EARTH!) to relationship issues - what makes FRXQ stand out is how he has such a wide variety of song topics and styles that it’s impossible to get bored going through his discography.
Fans of $uicideboy$, xxxtentacion, City Morgue, or Lil Peep know what incredible tracks can come from blending rock, alt rock, or emo styles with rap, and FRXQ has been doing this throughout his many singles and EP. He’s been grinding for years, but just started releasing music publicly the past two years, and he often works with his collective ‘OUTKX$T CLIQUE’ - if you’re looking for a new artist to follow, make it FRXQ. Following the same path many other great artists have been on recently, he’s been consistently dropping music on SoundCloud and building a following. You won’t want to miss this journey.
